OUR VALUES
We work as peers to producers, venues, and artists. We admire and respect the contributions of everyone on the team and we expect the same in return. We are deliberate in our partnerships – when we take tours on, when we produce projects, and when we accept general management contracts.
Here are some of the ways in which we work:
We define success in three ways:
Did we make the thing we set out to make?
Did it find its audience?
Did the people involved feel good, supported, and taken care of across the process?
We take a people-first approach, not just in our behavior, but in how we budget as well.
We’re also honest that sometimes delivering the show doesn’t always mean choosing the people over the production. We find it is important to be honest about when and why those exceptions occur and make sure that they don’t become the rule.
It’s important for us to pay people on time, especially artists and gig workers. The producers we work with will share that value, too, and recognize the responsibility in having reliable funding for the project.
We like having full and balanced lives and we take boundaries around working hours seriously. Yes, our industry often works round the clock and sometimes there are unavoidable emergencies, but we ask that outside of those rare occasions, our colleagues respect our working hours and we promise to do the same. Typically, our working hours are Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:30pm EST, though this may adjust according to production schedules.
We approach every project with curiosity and we interrogate past practices so we’re always improving, getting more efficient, and bettering the entire process.
We look for ways to lessen our environmental impact and ask our producing partners to join us in making choices that are kinder to the environment. This is a significant challenge with international touring and is an area where we are working to improve.
We enjoy discussing our company’s practices and sharing examples across our different types of partnerships. If you’re new to working with Pemberley, we look forward to talking about this in our first call together.
